Sorry for my lack of updates today. I spent most of the day napping in a chair next to Karen - rough life, huh. Karen has had a good day. She was moved out of ICU around 9:30am and up to her new room. As I said, the new room is fantastic. It's a single room and it's more like a hotel room than a hospital room. It has a TV, a fan, a refridgerator and lots of wood trim. There is a convenience center right across the hall with ice, water, pop, coffee and tea. The nursing staff is very nice and Karen has already made friends with all of them. It is all very comfortable.
Around 2pm, the nurse came in and asked Karen if she wanted to try and sit up. Karen was not excited about this since she was in so much pain. She slowly sat up on the edge of the bed, but was very light headed. They waited a bit, then slowly stood her up, turned her around and had her sit in a chair. This actually was very comfortable for Karen. She sat in the chair for about 30 minutes, but then grew tired. The nurses moved her back to the bed and Karen took a long nap (and so did I).
Right now Karen is feeling the best she has felt. She is kind of surprised. She has energy and feels good. We're just sitting around watching Larry King right now.
That's it for now. I will try to do better about posting tomorrow.
Thanks for all the prayers and comments They mean alot to Karen and me.
Love,
Mike

Hey mom and dad! I'm finally around and able to use the internet to check the blog. I'm glad to read that you are doing good, mom! I'll keep praying for you. Enjoy your time together in the fancy hospital room:) You better start recovering quick so you're ready to come visit me in August!

Hi Karen & Mike,
So happy to hear that you are doing a better after your surgery. It was so good to see you at the Family Reunion. Take one day at a time. Your faith in God will see you and your family thru this. We will put you on our prayer chain at church. Know that we are thinking of you. Keep trying that walk to the bathroom.....it will only get better as time goes by!
Sending you our love and prayers,
Your cousin in NJ,
Karen & Lex & Ann
